Dear SAHRA Members, Hopefully you were able to make it to the May meeting. Robin Bosch from the Labor Department presented ND Wage and Hour Information after a delightful discussion of ways our businesses have fun at work. This month, we have a scheduled a special session titled “Secrets to Making Diversity Work” with Kostas Voutsas, from DSU. For those of you who need credit towards certification, the presentation has been pre-approved by HCRI for 1.5 strategic credits. This would be a great presentation to bring others from your company for insights on differences in the workplace and how those differences impact the workplace. The presentation will begin at 10 a.m. on June 10, 2010 at the Elks. Following Kostas’ presentation, we will be having our regular SAHRA meeting with Glen Roshau discussing the benefits of the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certifications and how these certifications increase your skill set as a Human Resource Professional which increases your value to your company. I will also demonstrate some of the benefits of being a member of SHRM at the national level. Membership in SHRM (in addition to our SAHRA group) can be very advantageous to you as you perform your HR tasks as well as to your company as they look to meeting future workplace needs. In fact, you may want to see if your boss or others in your company would like to stay after Kostas’ presentation for this meeting, or just come to this meeting and find out how to help both you and the company grow through the resources provided by SHRM. Join us on the 10th for a time of growth, learning, and good networking. See you then.
