These awards recognize professional chapters of SHRM for their exceptional ability in operations, the professional development of chapter members, promotion of the profession and support of SHRM in partnership. Chapters must submit completed Chapter Achievement Plans no later than the due date to be considered for an award. Winners of the award will be notified in March and will receive award podium banners and recognition in SHRM publications and at conferences.

Southwest Area Human Resource Association Receives Distinguished Award

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) in Alexandria, VA has awarded the Superior Merit Chapter designation to the Southwest Area Human Resource Association (SAHRA) of Dickinson, ND for its scope of work in perpetuating and supporting the mission of the organization in 2008.

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is the world’s largest association devoted to human resource management. The Society serves the needs of HR professionals and advances the interests of the HR profession. Founded in 1948, SHRM has more than 250,000 members in over 130 countries, and more than 575 affiliated chapters.

SAHRA is one of 79 chapters receiving the distinction in SHRM’s North Central Region comprised of 10 states and 153 affiliated chapters.

“This recognition demonstrates both the leadership and the successful partnership the chapter has with SHRM to serve the networking and professional development needs of human resource professionals and to the advancement of the human resources profession” noted Pamela J. Green, SPHR, Chief Membership Officer for SHRM.

The SAHRA Chapter receives a Certificate of Recognition, a specialized banner to display at its meetings and events, and is being recognized in SHRM’s publications and at its conferences.

2008 Chapter Champion

The Chapter Champion award recognizes SHRM chapters that actively work to support the SHRM Foundation. Educating members about the SHRM Foundation requires an ongoing effort, and the chapters are uniquely positioned to do this. Each year, more than 70% of SHRM chapters make a contribution to the Foundation's annual campaign. By completing the other requirements below, chapters may earn recognition as a Chapter Champion.

To earn a Chapter Champion award, your chapter must:

Make a chapter contribution to the annual campaign
Appoint a Foundation coordinator
Educate your members on the work of the Foundation
Hold a special event (raffle, silent auction, etc.) to encourage individual contributions.
